The Art and Artist -

The Magic Pudding: Being The Adventures of Bunyip Bluegum and his friends Bill Barnacle and Sam Sawnoff is an Australian children's book written and illustrated by Norman Lindsay. It is a comic fantasy, a classic of Australian children's literature and was first published in 1918.  These images are from Series 02: Norman Lindsay Drawings for the Magic Pudding Puppet Show, 1959.

Norman Lindsay (1879 - 1969) was a well known (and sometimes controversial) Australian artist, Illustrator, etcher, sculptor, writer, editorial  cartoonist and an accomplished amateur boxer. He was born in Creswick (outside Ballarat), Victoria. Lindsay was particularly fond of and  always kept a small warm corner of his home and artistic life for his cats. He particularly enjoyed recording their amusing antics.
